Construction spending rose higher than expected in November to a record $1.257 trillion, according to Commerce Department numbers. Furthermore, the economy added 30,000 construction jobs in November. Despite the optimism, employers are concerned that workforce availability falls short of anticipated hiring needs. The shortage has been caused by workers leaving the industry after the last downturn and by aging out.
